Each member of the Gabriel Network Team is here to serve both women in need and our volunteers.  We are committed to continual improvement and to building a learning culture of affirmation, accountability, and mutual support.

  • Stephen wallace - executive director

    Stephen has been called to this ministry to serve the unborn and provide a place for healing broken hearts.  

    Stephen joined Gabriel Network in September 2014 after several years of active legal practice with the law firm Drinker, Biddle & Reath in Washington, D.C. Stephen graduated magna cum laude from Notre Dame Law School and summa cum laude from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and clerked for Chief Judge Alice M. Batchelder of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He earned his Executive Certificate in Transformational Nonprofit Leadership from the Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business in 2014.  

    Stephen, his wife Meta, and their children Laura, Joseph, Francis and #4 live in Laurel, Maryland and are members of St. Mary of the Mills parish. Stephen enjoys college football, crossfit workouts, salmon ladders, sportsing, and community life.

  • Tiffany Farley - Executive Assistant

    Tiffany has been serving at Gabriel Network since 2011.  Prior to joining our team she was the High School Youth Minister at St. Pius X Church in Bowie, MD.  Tiffany excels at creating a welcoming and energetic office and recruiting new volunteers to join our ministry.  She truly has a servant's heart.  


    She and her husband Brendan have four children, Gavin, Kyra, Johnny, and Michael. Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis, reading, and winning whatever office competition is going on.

  • Sophia tyson - Bowie Home Director

    Sophia moved to the Washington Metropolitan area from Pittsburgh, PA in 1983. She loves the familiar phrase, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Her greatest passion is to help women and families work through crisis and come through a difficult situation stronger, wiser, and grateful for having weathered the storms of life.

    Sophia is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Psychology and Counseling. She currently attends Capital Seminary and Graduate School where she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Christian Care plus Divinity. Sophia has served the community as a volunteer counselor with the Bowie Crofton Pregnancy Clinic, a post-abortion stress Bible study leader, and a mentor at the Woodland Job Corps Center, in Laurel, MD, where she strived to encourage young women to avoid the trap of mediocrity and pursue excellence. In 2014, she started a discipleship ministry designed to support women married for one year or less find strength and hope through community care. She lives in Capitol Heights, MD with her husband Ronald and their marigold “Mr. Jonah.”

  • Lew Jan Olowski - Development Director/General Counsel

    Lew "Jan" Olowski has served Gabriel Network as a volunteer and contributor since autumn 2014. He joins our staff as an experienced communicator, manager, and attorney, having previously worked for The Daily Caller News Foundation and the Center for Class Action Fairness. 

    Jan was educated by the city of Chicago and schooled by Georgetown Law in Washington, DC. He is husband to Heather Olowski, a civil rights attorney at the U.S. Department of State, and father to Victoria, an excellent storyteller and artist, and Gabriel, a tremendous sleeper.

  • Aletheia elliott - life coach

    Aletheia is a graduate of Capital Bible Seminary with an M.A. in Christian Counseling and Discipleship and a concentration in Youth and Family Counseling. She is the co-founder of Eleutheria Christian Counseling & Care, LLC and has volunteered as a counselor at the Bowie Pregnancy Clinic. Aletheia's professional experience includes counseling/caregiving, office and business administration/management, project management, marketing, teaching, retail management and entrepreneurship. She has overseen and supervised Master’s level counseling internships as well as guest facilitated/presented in Master’s level counseling classes at her alma mater. She has a love and passion for serving, specifically young women/adults.

    She continues to counsel at her local church Grace Bible Church and Lighthouse Church with ECCC. Aletheia is an individual who loves life and loves people. She lives in Bowie, Maryland with her husband Nathaniel, their son Brighton and their amazing pup named Zero. She enjoys reading, music, cooking and quality time with family and friends.

  • Mary Cunningham - Church Team Member

    Mary retired from the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services in 2011 after 30 years of service as a juvenile probation officer. Mary has been an Angel Friend since 2012 and the Gabriel Network Church Coordinator at Sacred Heart Church, Bowie, MD, since the fall of 2014.


    Mary lives in Bowie with her husband, Mark, and their daughter, Audrey. She enjoys reading, the beach, exercise and Zumba, and of course, serving and sharing God’s love with those less fortunate. Mary says, “I am very excited to be a part of this dynamic church ministry team and I look forward to all the good things God has planned for this ministry!”

  • PatRICIA Perez - Church Team Member

    "I am enormously humbled by the compassion and generosity of the Gabriel Network volunteers and am honored to train the Angel Friends, those who work most closely with our client moms."

    Before joining the Gabriel team, Patty served as an Associate County Attorney in the Prince George's County Office of Law; as the Associate Director of Family Law Information Services in the Family Division of the Prince George's County Circuit Court; and as the Court Liaison for Hispanic and Self-Represented Litigants.

    Patty has lived and studied abroad and has held teaching positions at both the university and high school levels. She holds a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD; an MA in Spanish from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH; and a JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland, OH.

    Patty cherishes time with her husband and children and enjoys reading, traveling, working out, and living a life that respects and celebrates the value and dignity of every human being.

  • Laura BEST - Church Outreach coordinator

    Laura grew up in Bowie, MD. She learned about Gabriel Network at a young age, when her family hosted several young women in her home and she gave up her room to make space for their guests.  She is compassionate for the unborn and loves helping others.   She is enthusiastic in sharing this passion with churches all over Maryland and DC.

    Laura graduated from Anne Arundel Community College with a degree in interior design. She has worked previously as a home stager and interior designer and continues to work on design projects, including helping friends and family in their homes. Besides interior design, she enjoys staying active through yoga and working out, and spending time with her husband, family, and dog Bailey. 

  • Jim Sharbaugh - Church Team Chaplain

    Jim served as the original Executive Director of Gabriel Project and later returned to lead the church-based ministry outreach.  A man with a true heart for ministry (and a glutton for punishment!), Jim is our first Chaplain, and is focusing on strengthening our spiritual health through providing regular spiritual guidance to staff, coordinators, and mothers.

    Jim and his wife live in Bowie, Maryland and are very proud of their son Joel.  

  • Michelle Burgess - Ellicott City House Director

    Michelle began serving at Gabriel in 2013. She was once a client-mom in the Gabriel program and feels that the skills she learned while in the program--along with her love of the Lord--have given her a special perspective in working with current client-moms.  She, along with her daughter Milah, serve mothers who live in our Ellicott City Home.  

    Michelle also works as a home health caretaker in addition to her role as a House Director. She has held CNA positions, served as Assistant Director and teacher of a preschool, and worked as a restaurant manager. She volunteered for Lupus Charity for several years. Michelle completed training through the MSDE to become a certified teacher, and is currently taking online health classes and Childcare Classes in pursuit of a degree in Human Services.   

  • Rosi Velez Pineda - Resident Assistant

    Rosi joined Gabriel Network in February 2017 and became the Full-time Resident Assistant in our Bowie home in May 2017.
